- Use spellcheck. Shockingly, many wattpad users get really sick of reading stories that sound like text messages.
- Stop writing about vampires! No one cares anymore.
- If you ask someone to read your book, address them personally and with correct grammar.
- Advertise on your Facebook! Your friends are typically your biggest fans, at least at first.
- Don't post an entire book at once. Post one chapter at a time and try to update regularly. This keeps your audience interested.
- Message your fans, yes, but only if you have something to say. If you have a question, suggestion, or update on your book, let them know, but no one is going to read a paragraph about your Aunt Mildie's disgusting banana bread.
- Respond to your fans. If someone fans you, thank them. If they comment, answer it. Even if they send you hate mail, give them some sort of sarcastic response just to make yourself feel better.
- Please don't tell the same scene from three different perspectives. It gets old.
- Keep your chapters at about two to four pages. The internet attention span will not read longer than that unless it is amazing, and shorter is just annoying.
- If your title is as long as this sentence, you need to find a new hobby.
Just a few things to keep in mind! Happy Wattpadding!
